Australian Sun Protection Since 1995
Three decades of protecting skin in the harshest UV conditions on the planet. Now available across Canada.
Born in Australia. Built for the Sun.
Sun Zapper started in 1995 in Australia — a country where two in three people will be diagnosed with skin cancer by age 70. The UV index regularly hits Extreme. Sunscreen is not optional here; it is survival gear. That environment shaped everything about how Sun Zapper products are formulated, tested, and manufactured.
The original coloured zinc sticks became a fixture of Australian beach culture — lifeguards, surf clubs, nippers (junior lifesavers), and families reaching for bold stripes of zinc before hitting the water. Over three decades, the range expanded to include pure mineral lotions, performance sport formulas, tinted moisturisers, and after-sun care. Today, Sun Zapper products are sold in Australia, the US, Canada, and the UK.
The Product Range
The Pure Zinc range uses 25% non-nano zinc oxide as the sole active ingredient. No chemical UV filters, no parabens, no fragrances. Made with organic ingredients, vegan, and reef safe. Enriched with Australian botanicals — Kakadu Plum (the world's richest natural source of Vitamin C), Jojoba, Sea Buckthorn, and Chamomile. Available in formulations for adults, kids, babies, acne-prone skin, anti-aging, and daily face use.
The Zinc Sticks come in 17 colours across the Original (12g) and Extreme (15g) ranges. The Originals are the everyday go-to — SPF 50+, 4-hour water resistance, bold colours and skin tones. The Extreme sticks are 25% larger with advanced UV filters for maximum staying power — built for anyone who spends long hours in the sun and demands more from their sunscreen.
The Face & Cosmetic range includes tinted moisturisers and BB creams with SPF 50+ — sun protection that doubles as daily skincare and light makeup.
Why Zinc Oxide?
Zinc oxide is a mineral that sits on top of the skin and physically blocks UV rays. It does not absorb into the bloodstream. It provides broad spectrum protection (UVA + UVB) from the moment you apply it — no 20-minute wait required. Non-nano zinc oxide particles are too large to penetrate the skin barrier, which is why it remains the active ingredient of choice for reef-safe, baby-safe, and sensitive-skin formulations.
Why Australian Sunscreen?
Australia regulates sunscreen as a therapeutic good — not a cosmetic. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) applies the same standards to sunscreen that it applies to prescription medicines. Every Sun Zapper product is manufactured in TGA-licensed facilities and tested under Australian UV conditions before it reaches shelves. When a sunscreen is developed in a country where UV exposure routinely hits the highest measurable levels on Earth, the formulation has to perform. There is no room for products that fade, wash off, or underdeliver.
Sun Zapper in Canada
UV exposure in Canada is year-round — on ski hills, frozen lakes, hiking trails, construction sites, soccer fields, and summer beaches. Snow reflects up to 80% of UV radiation. Altitude increases UV intensity. Canadians need sunscreen that performs in varied conditions, from -20°C wind chill to 35°C summer heat. Sun Zapper brings three decades of Australian sun protection expertise to Canadian families, athletes, outdoor workers, and anyone who spends time outside.
